I know some of you read my blogs or see my posts on facebook about how I am always working out, teaching spin classes and they probably assume that I am whizzing through my program with no problem. Absolutely not true!!! There are a few challenges that I’ve encountered as a mommy trying to get back into pre-pregnancy shape that I would like to share. One challenge has been waking up super early every single day of the week. I choose the early morning sessions because my husband has to be at work by 7:30/8:00 a.m. so 6:00 a.m. works out perfectly as I will be home in time to watch my daughter. I use to be a morning person but when I have to wake up a few times in the middle of the night on top of having to wake up at 5:30 a.m. to be at the gym full force by 6:00 a.m. it gets exhausting. Luckily my daughter only wakes up a few times during the night as I’ve heard some babies wake up every two hours. Yikes! I’m sure some of you think well go to bed early. I don’t get to hit the sack early as I would like because I am always trying to catch up on house chores like laundry, yard work, dishes, food shopping, preparing meals, doctor appointments, etc…on top of handling a career and being a full-time mommy. Being that the first few weeks on this program were getting really exhausting, I tried switching it up by doing one strength session at night to give me a little break. Keep in mind that I still teach three spin classes a week and every few weeks I am always looking to add new spin routines, and update my music. Before I bring my new routines to class I like to practice them at home on my own personal spin bike to make sure they are easy enough for beginners, and challenging enough for advanced riders.
Another challenge that I am facing is the soreness. I am usually pretty sore after a workout but I can usually tolerate it. As of this morning I woke up feeling so sore from my “Phase Two Day A” workout especially in my arms. I really noticed the soreness when I held my daughter. My arms felt like jello. I am mentioning these challenges because I know some people get discouraged and give up too easy and as a mother these challenges can tend to be overwhelming. No one ever said it would be easy and it definitely takes a lot of hard-work. But with the support of my family and coaches at Shore Results , I’ve been very grateful. If I did not have the support that I do now, I know I would not be able to succeed in this program. I hope by sharing my weekly posts that I help to inspire many others especially other mothers who think they can’t do it. It’s not going to be easy but I can tell you it’s going to be worth it. Don’t give up on your dreams!!!!! If you never chase after your dream body, you will never catch it.
